As we seem to do, we'd cut it close again and we were afraid we wouldn't make it to the Canyon before the sunset was over, but we did - barely. A few minutes later, the sun dipped below the rim. This shot was taken near where the first one was, at about the same time of day - but a couple of months later in the year. The sky wasn't as gorgeous as it had been in 2000 but the weather was perfect. In fact, it was hot enough for shorts the next day which was unusual at an altitude of 7000 feet in early April.
